Ocean Spray DP#35
Daily Painting #35
“Ocean Spray”
April 5, 2008
This is an acrylic painting on a 9”x12” canvas. It has 4 layers of paint. The first layer was applied with brushes and the other top 3 layers were created with pouring mediums out of squeeze bottles. I love this technique: You apply a layer and watch it as it flows over the canvas. It has a life of its own and there is zero control of it. You can guide it along, but it will still move on it’s own depending on the level of the surface, gravity, etc. The image is of a wave. A long time ago I painted something similar to this, and wanted to try it again with the pouring paints. This is what the end result came to be.
A lot has happened since I last painted. Mostly stuff that just took over my day without me even noticing. Before I knew it a few weeks had flown by – no exercise, no painting, no meditating, etc. Then I started to wonder why was I feeling like crap? DUH, I needed to start my exercise program back up, needed to paint, needed to meditate! I’ve come to realize that my cup is overflowing. I’m filled with so many projects and need a little bit of an ‘ass kicking’ to say the least. My other big web project (GodBlessHumanity.com) is really starting to take off and I am making many great connections, finding great stories and am really enjoying everything about it. But I realized I needed someone on the outside to help me manage myself.
So I’m excited to say that I am beginning to build a joint venture with a friend who is also a coach. We’re figuring out a way to support each other and our businesses. Along the way she’s going to help me make sense of my madness in my life. I always thought people who needed coaches where the ones who had no clue what they wanted from life. Boy was I wrong. That makes no sense. Serious athletes have coaches. Why shouldn’t people who are serious about their passions and their businesses have a coach? It will be interesting to see where this leads.
I’ve also been rethinking my eBay store vs. the Etsy store. Although the Etsy store is easier to use, eBay brings so much more traffic than any other store. I’d love any feedback you might have for this.
For now, I’m continuing with Etsy until I decide to change my mind. Isn’t it great that you can always change your mind??? ☺
Peace & Blessings,
